With the warmer weather here, we naturally spend more time outdoors, whether it’s in the garden, at parks, or enjoying days out. Unfortunately, this can create opportunities for opportunistic thieves.

Please take a few simple steps to help keep your home safe:

🔒 Secure doors and windows
Even if you’re just in the garden or popping out briefly, ensure all doors and accessible windows are locked.

🪟 Don’t leave windows open when out
Ground floor and accessible windows left open can be an easy entry point.

🚪 Lock up before bed
Warmer nights can tempt us to leave windows or doors unlocked—ensure everything is secure before turning in.

📦 Keep valuables out of sight
Avoid leaving items such as phones, laptops, handbags, or car keys visible from windows.

🚗 Protect your vehicle
If you have keyless entry, keep keys away from doors and windows and consider signal-blocking pouches.

🌿 Garden security
Lock away bikes, tools, and garden equipment, and secure sheds and gates.

👀 Look out for each other
If you notice anything suspicious in your area, please report it. In an emergency, call 999. For non-emergencies, contact 101 or report online.
